Coolrun is an environmentally friendly cold chain solution built by Hubl Logistics. It enables the movement of mixed temperature refrigerated and frozen movements without the need for typical temperature controlled trucks.
Reducing Operational Costs and Carbon
A typical 16-tonne refrigerated truck incurs an annual total cost of £42,890, covering fuel, maintenance, and refrigeration. It emits 48,855 kg CO2e per year, including emissions from fuel combustion, methane, NOx, and refrigerant leak.

Opportunities for fresh produce suppliers
Whilst the Pods support ESG targets. It also enable a new way to move produce into the market, suppliers can now use non temperature controlled partners, who are often cheaper and have more flexibility amongst their offerings.
Completely different modes can now be accessed, including our partner Varamis Rail as an example.
Mixed temperatures and smaller size orders can now be fulfilled and be moved via pallet networks.
Opportunities for Logistics Businesses
Likewise, this opens up new markets for general haulage and logistics business who haven't had a cold chain offering. Now these networks and businesses can move temperature controlled goods, enabling further optimisation of capacity and space in their vehicles due to additional markets they can now serve.

The pods are equipped with (our proprietary patent pending) innovative passive cooling system, designed to maintain optimal temperature, using Phase Change Material (PCM) plates that function as transferable, reusable thermal batteries. The primary energy used to cool the PCM batteries is derived from the depot-based refrigeration drawn from renewable sources and stored within the PCM plates until required.
IoT
The Internet of Things (IoT) tracker system located on the pod enables real-time tracking, monitoring, and consignment management throughout the delivery networks. This includes key activities associated with first and last-mile logistics, due to the ability to track the individual pod/consignment as distinct from the vehicle or transport mode.

We here at RTL are working with Hubl clients and building a network to enable countrywide consistency through access to the Coolrun Pods.
We are exploring new routes to market and working closely with pallet networks, haulage operators and logistics suppliers to ensure if someone needs a Pod they can meet their expected lead times.
Our service enables everyone involved to become comfortable with the changes to their operation utilising the Pods. Ensuring we are capturing the benefits so they can be reporting by relevant stakeholders.
Typically we would do some cost to serve analysis, Scope 1 and Scope 3 emission reporting and work closely with warehouse teams at all stages of the supply chain to ensure smooth running of the operation and adoption of the technology.
